O presente artigo narra a saga dos negros africanos em terras brasileiras, a luta para preservar sua identidade étnico-cultural (notadamente a adoração às suas divindades), a perseguição  religiosa, o reconhecimento do Candomblé como religião, sua ascensão a patrimônio cultural  afro-brasileiro e lista as políticas públicas implementadas  no âmbito federal, estadual e municipal, para a sua proteção.

Abstract

This article describes the Africans experience history in Brazilian territory, their fight to preserve their ethnic and cultural identity (notably the worship of their deities), their religious persecution, as well as the recognition of Candomblé as a religion and its rise to become part  of  the  African-Brazilian cultural heritage as  well  Federal, statewide and municipal  public policies for its protection.
